KIHA 181-Series [Model/Name] Model KIHA 181-Series


This limited express diesel car uses a 500PS drive engine to achieve a speed of 120 km/h. The Kiha 181 lead car has a drive engine and electric generator engine. Intermediate KIHA 181 and KIRO 180 cars have heat radiators on the roofs to dispel heat during high-speed operation. These trains are now being used only on JR West lines, primarily on the San-in Line.
