[Model/Name] Shinkansen 100-Series
Improved electrical system output and a smaller, lighter body resulted in the 12M4T, with two-story cars in the middle of the train. Outside, the nose of the train is more streamlined than that of the 0-Series, and inside, the seats are considerably wider, at a spacing pitch of 1040 mm. The new seat design allows even the three-row seats to rotate and all seats recline up to 30. Among others,"Grand Hikari", made debut by JR-West in 1989
as 100N-series, was a double-decker 16-car set. Of the two-story cars, cars 7, 9 and 10 have "Green Car" luxury seating on the second floor with four rows of standard seating on the first floor. The second floor of car 8 is a dining area and the first floor is a shop and the kitchen.
