Model 283-Series/Ocean Arrow [Model/Name] Model 283-Series/Ocean Arrow

The 283-Series was introduced on the Kinokuni Line in July 1996 as the "Super Kuroshiro", " Ocean Arrow" to provide reduced travel times and improved service. The train was renamed "Ocean Arrow" in March 1997. Speed increase efforts that have been underway since 1997 have reduced the train's travel time between Wakayama and Shingu by approximately 20 minutes.
