681-Series [Model/Name] Model 681-Series/Thunderbird

This train is used as the "Thunderbird" on the Hokuriku Line, and is the first original limited-express train designed by JR-West. The main circuit system uses independent VVVF inverter control, with one inverter controlling one motor.
681-SeriesThree types of cars are used, M, Tp and T. The flexible train system is based on an M+Tp 2-car unit to which T cars can be added at any location. There are also three types of cars with operator cabins. The green cars feature a 2 + 1 seat layout and each seat has its own LCD television. The seats in the standard cars have a wider pitch than the seats in the 485-Series trains.
