[Model/Name] Model 681-Series/Thunderbird
This train is used as the "Thunderbird" on the Hokuriku Line, and is the first original limited-express train designed by JR-West. The main circuit system uses independent VVVF inverter control, with one inverter controlling one motor.
Three types of cars are used, M, Tp and T. The flexible train system is based on an M+Tp 2-car unit to which T cars can be added at any location. There are also three types of cars with operator cabins. The green cars feature a 2 + 1 seat layout and each seat has its own LCD television. The seats in the standard cars have a wider pitch than the seats in the 485-Series trains.
