100N-Series [Model/Name] Shinkansen 0-Series

This is the original model of the Shinkansen train that was used when the Shinkansen lines first went into operation. All cars were equipped with electric motors, and two cars formed one unit. The 0-Series originally had five rows of seats that could face either direction. Today, however, there are three types of 0-Series trains, with either three rows of fixed seats and two rows of rotating seats for a total of five rows, two rows of rotating seats on each side of the aisle for a total of four rows (West Hikari), and the cars with remodeled accommodation with two rows of fixed seats and three rows of rotating seats for a total of five rows. The windows were made smaller starting with version 22, and the seats were widened from 940mm to 980mm starting with version 30 and in the cars with remodeled accommodation.
