The C58 is a mid-size passenger and freight locomotive, and 427 were manufactured
from 1938 to 1947. This was one of the main locomotives used on local lines.
The locomotive styling resembles a small version of the D51, and this was
the first locomotive to have a fully enclosed cab.
The locomotive at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum ran a total of 2.07
million kilometers in the Omiya and Kitami areas.
