Model C59/No.164 [Model/Name] Model C59


A ultimate large-scale passenger locomotive was successor to the C53, with 173 being produced from 1941 to 1947. The C59 was one of the popular locomotives that pulled limited express such as "Tsubame", "Kamome" and "Sakura" on the Tokaido Main Line until electric train operation began on the line.
The locomotive at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum ran a total of 2 million kilometers in the Umekoji and Itosaki areas.
