D51 locomotives and C61 was the first locomotive to use an automatic coal
feeder to alleviate the work of the stoker. The C61 was used to pull limited
express and other types of trains.
The locomotive at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum ran a total of 2.58
million kilometers in the Sendai and Kagoshima areas.
